The Atlanta Society of Magicians meets at the Piccadilly Cafeteria (2226 North Druid Hills Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30329 map) on the second Tuesday of each month. The business meeting begins at approximately 6pm. Join us early for dinner and conversation.
Our Professional Development Series is presented by an ASM member each month and focuses on a particular topic (see schedule above). All attendees are encouraged to perform at each meeting. The performances are not required to relate to the topic of the Professional Development Series workshop.

Felix Snipes - Magic for Eternity

Felix Snipes - Magic for Eternity ...He Did Just That! By Greg Davidson If you have been around the magic world for a while, there’s a good chance you have heard the name Felix Snipes. If you have been around the Christian magic world for any time, it would be a sure thing. Felix Snipes became known as one who dedicated his love of the art of the Magic, toward serving God in Christian ministry. You may have already read one of the many memorial tributes which have been shared since Felix’ death. I have been asked to share some of the rest; a few extra glimpses, lesser-knowns and moments of magic in the life of Felix Snipes. Shortly after the death of Felix Snipes, Keith Rainey contacted me as someone who knew Felix personally, spent a great deal of time with Felix, laughed and cried with Felix, and knew about the magic that was part of his life. Keith asked me to share a little of the journey before the wand was broken; a “snapshot of a life in magic” and immediately I thought, “Wow, which one?”

ASM Member Milestones

Congratulations and thanks to ASM members Dan Garrett and Nolan Robinson for their devotion and support to the Society of American Magicians. This year, Dan will reach 35 years and Nolan will reach 25 years of continuous membership in the S.A.M.

Are you tired of seeing Keith, Rick and Joe being the only featured ASM members on this site? They're the ONLY members who have submitted their bios for inclusion.

All members of the Atlanta Society of Magicians are encouraged to submit a short biographical sketch with photo and link to their website. That's all that is needed to add your profile to the Featured Member section on the ASM home page.

Each time the site is accessed, a member profile is selected at random from those available and displayed on the home page. Members must be current on club dues to keep their profile active in the mix.

Dan Garrett Named Magician of the Year

The members of The Atlanta Society of Magicians (S.A.M. Assembly #30) and The Georgia Magic Club (I.B.M. Ring 9) voted Dan Garrett 2009 Greater Atlanta Magician of the Year(MOTY). This is Dan's third time being honored with the award. The MOTY trophy was presented to Dan at the January 18 RING 9 meeting by Ring 9 president, Debbie Leifer.

ASM Member Spotlight

Keith Rainey is an avid hobbyist magician. His studies concentrate on sleight-of-hand/close-up magic with playing cards and coins.

Keith is a member of the Atlanta Society of Magicians where he has served as Vice-President, President and Treasurer since 2003. He is also a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians, Georgia Magic Club and the Society of American Magicians.

The Georgia Magic Club recognized Keith with "Mini-lecture of the Year 2007" for his workshop on basic coin handling. He won first place in the "One Trick Pony" contest at the October 2009 Carolina Close-up Convention in Charlotte, NC and second place at the South Carolina Association of Magicians Close-up Contest in January 2010. Keith was nominated for Greater Atlanta Magician of the Year in 2005,2007 & 2008.
